For future events, please register at our website www.earthsciencematters.com to ask your questions live on the fireside chats!

Today we are happy to invite Dr. Martina Kölbl-Ebert. She studied geology and paleontology in Tübingen and in Norman (Oklahoma). I obtained her Ph.D. in geology at the University of Tübingen (Germany), then worked as an educator at the Museum of Natural History in Karsruhe, as a Postdoc at the GEOMAR research center in Kiel, and as a geological curator at the Bavarian State Natural History Collections in Munich. In 2003, she became head of the palaeontological Jura-Museum Eichstätt and curator of the natural history collections of the Bishop’s Seminary in Eichstätt. In 2017, she obtained her Habilitation degree in history of science from the University of Hamburg. Since 2019, Ms. Martina is an academic director at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Munich, where she teaches geology, history of geosciences, and geoscience communication. Her main research interest is in the history of the geosciences, but she also occasionally works on fossil fish!
